What 52mm (2-1/16") means
52mm is the diameter of the gauge, and it is the same measurement as 2-1/16 inches. You will see both used interchangeably on gauges and pods. When a pod is described as holding a 52mm or a 2-1/16" gauge, it means the mounting hole is sized for that gauge body. Getting this number right is the whole game with fitment: the gauge and the pod opening have to match.
Why 52mm is the standard size
52mm is by far the most common performance gauge size, which works in your favor. Because nearly every gauge maker builds to 52mm and nearly every pod is molded for it, you are not locked into one brand. Matching gauge size to the pod openings
Gauges also come in 60mm (2-3/8") and 95mm (3-3/4"), so before you buy, confirm the pod openings and the gauge bodies are the same size. Most builds use 52mm across the board because it packs the most readings into the least space and fits the widest range of pods. If you mix sizes, make sure the pod is molded for that exact combination.
Single, double, or triple: how many gauges?
Pods are built to hold one, two, or three gauges, and occasionally more. Pick your count based on what you actually need to monitor:
- Single: one key reading, often boost or a wideband air/fuel ratio on a simpler build.
- Double: the most popular choice, commonly boost plus one of oil pressure or air/fuel.
- Triple: the full picture for a serious build, such as boost, oil pressure, and wideband air/fuel.
It is fine to buy a pod with more openings than you fill now and add gauges later. A gauge hole cover keeps an unused opening looking clean in the meantime.
Where gauges mount: A-pillar, dash, and add-on
The A-pillar is the most popular mounting spot because it puts your readings right in your line of sight without cluttering the dash. An A-pillar gauge pod replaces or overlays the factory pillar trim and holds your gauges at eye level. Dash and add-on pods are the answer when the pillar is not ideal for your vehicle or you want the gauges lower. The best location depends on your car or truck, and it is worth choosing the pod that fits your interior rather than forcing a one-size mount.

A universal bracket is a generic holder you shim and angle into place, and it usually sits proud of the trim with visible gaps.
